| 3G System – Ariel |
1. An urban water management system was established for the first time in Ariel, using the permanent-network method, whose main purpose is the continuous control of the waste level of water supply to all of the city’s consumers. The water system is managed by the Mei Ariel (Ariel Water) water corporation. The system was established with an emphasis on reducing water waste in the city. Simultaneously, planning and improvement works of the hydraulic infrastructure of the water supply and the main measurement branches in the city (network solver) were performed.
2. For the first time a system was established, which includes continuous physical and “economic” waste control for hundreds of control groups, starting with the main branches that supply water to the city, and ending with the home water meters at the consumer level. Arad Technologies won the commercial tender with the close supervision of a regulator and long term engagement including continued development and continuous service and support over the years.
3. General Statistics:
The number of water meters in the system is approximately 3,200 (later on the number will reach approximately 5500).
Water waste reduction – The water waste was reduced from an estimated level of approximately 20% (based on an annual or multi-annual estimate), to a physical level of the meter accuracy range (up to approximately 5%), with daily supervision of the waste and maintenance of its stability over time. The administrative waste was reduced immediately with the establishment of the system, following coverage of all the consumers without meters, the level of accuracy of the new meters, and updating consumer details. The physical waste was reduced in stages, when main lines that were damaged were identified and repaired. (Damage to main line 10” was repaired in E.L. 5 and the main supply lines which were clogged with gravel were cleaned in E.L.2 after diagnosis by the Atus System).
Water theft – the alert control has removed all possibilities to change meters, removing them from the line, using magnetic sabotage methods, leaks at the level of home meters, and unsupervised use by construction contractors or watering of communal gardens and lots.
Today these incidents hardly take place.
The collection and automation software were integrated into the system, and the service and response of the Collection Department to the public regarding collection charges has become simple and immediate (flexibility of access to statistics at any time, and the presentation of historic reports of consumption and advance notice).
Within the framework of service contracts, water meters are replaced according to the regulations of the Water Authority and the system maintains accuracy and correct measurement over time.
The main water meters for water supply to the city of the Mekorot Company (main water supplier) were integrated into the system.
The Barkan industrial zone, which is at a distance of 15 km from the city, was integrated into the system.
