Water utilities face many challenges that drive them to adopt advanced metering technologies. The two main regional segments of the Water Utilities market in the United States each have their distinct needs. Arad Metering Technologies’ Fix Base system provides the smart solution for both.

One segment is described as the ‘Sunbelt’ region, stretching across the Southern United States from Florida to California. The Sunbelt region typically uses meters located in a ‘pit-set’. Many pit-set meters are difficult to access manually, however radio transmission from these meters can be made from ground level.

The other segment is comprised of the Central United States and the Northern ‘Rustbelt’ regions, where meters are typically located below-ground, in basements. Manual reading is complicated; however a radio transmitter located at the side of the house approx. 3' above ground, makes automatic reading easily accessible.

We offer a dynamic solution for the ‘ Sunbelt’ region, by enabling meters to be read by multiple means; to migrate from Drive-by to Fix Base.

How the system works:

Fix System Topology

Dialog 3G meters transmit every 10 seconds, for drive-by reading.
The Booster transmits a data log command to read the data collected by the meter from the previous 4 hours.
The Booster opens the receiver for 10 seconds and synchronizes with the meter transmission.
When data collection is complete, the Booster transmits the data to the local Repeater or directly to the local Concentrator via 1W 905MHz – 925MHz radio frequency hopping.
The data is collected by the Concentrator within an average range of 1 Mile (1.6 KM) and then forwarded to the central computer system.
For transmission over greater distances, ARAD Technologies' Metering Technology has developed many types of Repeater units suitable for wide area coverage.
